Working from original acrylic as a foundation, Diego introduces additional materials, marks, and methods to create depth that a flat painting cannot reach. Built-up texture catches light and shadow; bold color sits against gritty, worked surfaces; gestural marks from his graffiti roots cut across more delicate, natural forms. The contrasts are intentional. Mixed media lets him hold opposites in tension — smooth and rough, vivid and muted, control and accident — which is exactly where his work comes alive.
